The Pooka is one of the most feared fairies in Ireland. It can appear in the form of a little bogey man or a huge eagle, but its most common appearance is that of a huge black stallion with sulphurous yellow eyes and a wild, tangled mane. One of the Pooka's favorite activities is to take late-night travellers (esp. drunks) on a wild ride that lasts all night, ending with the rider face down in a ditch. Despite its fearsome reputation, the Pooka can also provide advice about the future, if asked politely. The Pooka is my favorite supernatural/otherworldly/weird creature. Next to vampires. And werewolves. And unicorns. Oh, heck, I like 'em all.

But hey! Enough about the darn supernatural creatures. Here's something about me! My name is Becky, although I'm also called Elfling (long story on that one), Shortie (it's kind of obvious when you see me) and a host of other, less polite nicknames. I'm a nature-loving, bleeding-heart, tough-as-nails, angsty, humorous, musical, liberal, optimistic, romantic, realistic, fun-loving, stay-at-home dreamer. If some of that seems a little contradictory, welcome to my world. Hey, consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, right? But whatever else I am, I'm a writer. I write fantasy. I've even managed to (gasp!) write a book. Which actually isn't nearly as impressive as it sounds, particularly since I've literally started dozens.

Wow, you're all really bored now. I'll finish up quick. I play viola rather well, as I should, since I've been doing it for eight years. I like to dance and was recently a member of the jazz dance team "The Fifth Element." I read constantly, mainly fantasy with some mystery and science fiction tossed in. I like debating politics and I like poker, and I have lousy luck at both. Is that it? I think so. I should mention I have an obnoxiously active imagination and tend to be a little random, so don't mind me if I start jumping all over the place. It's not you. It's me. Really.
